"Once a new technology rolls over you, if you are not part of the steamroller, you are part of the road." Stewart Brand
Our Approach
Connecting villages, towns, businesses, institutions like schools, social amenities, transportation, first respondents etc. Mweva students learn digital mapping that will link the district digitally in trade, e-commerce, disaster response and day to day activities.

What We Do

We provide FREE quality computer programs to the young people in rural areas of Jinja district to stimulate economic development, help to create jobs for the youth and provide ICT training to local Non-Government Organizations (NGO'S). Once trained NGOs can adopt the use and application of IT in their day to day activities.

Our programs are wide and varied, they include the following;

Our Approach

Youths

Mweva Centre has been actively training youths from the marginalized communities in Web Design, Apps Development and Computer Programming.

Most of the young people we work with have never come across a computer or no prior computer training and in a short period of time, they become web designers, app developers or computer programmers.

Some of these youths have gone to work with organisations, companies and others are working as IT trainers with our organisation going into villages training other fellow youths to learn computer skills.

Our Approach

Disabled

Disabled people face a hard time especially in rural areas. They register the highest dropout rates in secondary school level and have one of the highest unemployment rates in the district.

We have initiated a training program specifically to the disabled in order to help these situations, There is a special emphasis on disabled women to aid them with the skills and knowledge that will help them towards paid employment.

We provide e-Commerce training for disabled people so they can learn the skills that help them to set up an online business to sell products and services over the internet.

Our Approach

Children

We are giving children an opportunity to start computer coding at an early stage. This gives them confidence in computer programming and in the future they will continue their study of computer programming, software development, engineering, artificial intelligence and many other computer related disciplines.

We teach children Scratch, a computer programming language designed by MIT. We also teach children to design games which can immensely help them to improve in their mathematics and logic in class.

Our Approach

Entrepreneurship

We organise and run seminars and conferences on entrepreneurship for the youth in order to introduce them to business startups, writing business plans, rules and regulations for starting a business, idea generation, funding and other business related topics.

This informs the youth on the many possibilities of business, helps to start new enterprises, and ultimately takes steps to overcome poverty

Our Approach

Organisations

Not only do we work directly with the most affected in the communities but we work with other organisations that work with the most affected like Jinja Red Cross, Walukuba Health Centre and others. The Red Cross is called from time to time to respond to disasters like fire which could engulf villages and destroys property, livestock and lives.

Our Approach

Teachers

We provide ICT training skills to Primary 7 teachers. This gives them the ability to introduce computers in classes as a learning tool. One of our primary objectives of our mission is to have schools in the entire Jinja district have access to the use of ICT in classrooms .

This will enhance pupil performance in class, and class attendance through the access to educational contents.

Jinja Schools Web-Portal

Most of the schools in Jinja district don't have access to a web presence, for the first time in the district we have designed a portal website to host all the schools in Jinja district.

www.jinjaschools.com will give access to a wealth of information resources, educational contents, academic materials, apps, online teacher training courses, teachers blog and MOODLE that will give pupils access to class lectures using thier mobile phones.
